Being too available can make people take you for granted
I was that person who would answer calls at 2am, cancel my plans to help someone, and lend money even when I barely had enough for myself.
Then I went through a really difficult period.
I called a few people I had always been there for. Some didn’t answer. Others said they were busy.
I’m not saying they were bad people. Everyone has their own problems.
But it made me realize something.
I had spent so much time making myself available that I forgot I also deserved support.
Now I still help people, but I have boundaries.
My advice: Don’t exhaust yourself trying to prove you’re a good person. The right people won’t need you to sacrifice your peace.
