Good ideas do not always arrive from the loudest person in the meeting

A fast moving meeting can reward people who think aloud while leaving less room for those who need a moment to consider a question. Being quiet does not mean having nothing useful to add. It can also be difficult to interrupt when the same few people keep talking. What meeting habits make participation easier without putting someone on the spot? Sharing an agenda beforehand and accepting written thoughts afterward are small changes. The useful test is whether more relevant information reaches the decision, rather than whether every person speaks for exactly the same number of minutes.

A clear question sent before the meeting gives people time to prepare. It is easier to contribute when the purpose is more specific than general updates.

Leaving a pause before moving to the next topic can help. Filling every quiet second may cut off someone who was about to speak.
