A tiny item, a large box, and nowhere to put the packaging

Packaging needs to protect an order, but a small item arriving in a much larger box creates another job at the other end. Flattening cardboard and working out what can be recycled is especially awkward in a small flat or a building with limited bins. On the other hand, damaged deliveries waste time and materials too. What would a sensible balance look like? Useful examples might include clear recycling instructions, fewer mixed materials or a checkout option that explains the packaging before dispatch.

The amount of packaging is one issue; whether the different layers can be separated is another. Which part makes disposal hardest?

Please describe the item and packaging in general terms. Remove addresses, tracking codes and order details from any photos you choose to share.

A reusable box sounds useful, but only if somebody has a use for it. Less packaging can be more practical than adding another suggested storage container.
