How long are you supposed to keep the box just in case?

Keeping every box until a return window closes can turn a small hallway into packaging storage. Throwing one away immediately can create extra work if the item needs to go back. Instructions sometimes mention original packaging without explaining which parts matter or whether another suitable box is acceptable. What would make return requirements clearer at the time of delivery? We are looking at practical communication and storage, including what belongs on a simple instruction card, rather than guessing the terms of a particular seller.

The retail box, shipping box and protective inserts are different things. A return policy could make those distinctions much clearer for customers.

If discussing a specific policy, include its wording and date without personal order details. Different products may have different packaging requirements.

Instructions could also explain whether labels should be removed or covered. That would keep old addresses and tracking information out of the return journey.

A compact checklist inside the parcel could be easier to keep than the whole shipping box. It should point clearly to the current return instructions.
