Which accommodation details matter more than the pretty photos?

A room can look lovely and still be a poor fit for the trip. Maybe the stairs are awkward with luggage, the area is loud after midnight, or the advertised location means a long walk back every evening. The nightly price rarely tells the whole story either.

Before booking, what do you check that tends to get overlooked? Interested in practical details like check-in hours, deposits, transport, storage, and whether the room has enough space to open a suitcase. What question would you ask a host before pressing the booking button now?

Recent reviews that describe a specific room or floor can be more useful than an overall score. Context helps explain conflicting experiences.

Please keep examples specific to what was promised and what was provided. Clear details are easier for another traveler to act on.

A kitchenette matters less if there is nowhere to buy groceries nearby. It is worth comparing the room facilities with the surrounding area.

Check whether luggage can be left before check-in. That detail can change the first day when a flight arrives early.
