Evening routines are harder when everyone shares the same small space

A lot of advice about winding down assumes a quiet bedroom, a separate living room and control over the lights. Shared homes do not always work that way. One person finishes work late, another needs the kitchen, and somebody is watching something in the only comfortable room. How do households make evenings work without treating one person's routine as the rule for everyone? Looking for practical arrangements and considerate compromises, especially where space is limited. This is about living together, rather than prescribing a perfect bedtime.

It might help to describe the space in general terms. Sharing a bedroom raises different questions from sharing a kitchen or living area.
