What makes a neighbourhood route pleasant enough to use again?

A route can look short on a map and still be unpleasant in real life. Narrow pavements, missing crossings, steep sections and nowhere to pause all change the experience. A slightly longer route with shade and a quiet crossing may feel much more manageable. Which details make a local route worth returning to? This is a place to compare the practical features people overlook, including accessibility and toilets. No need to share your home address or a route that reveals your daily movements.

Maps rarely explain whether a crossing gives people enough time or whether a pavement suddenly ends. Those details can change the whole route.

If you recommend a public place, a general area is enough. Please avoid posting somebody else's regular schedule or precise location.

Temporary building work can change a familiar route completely. How could local information make pavement closures clearer before somebody reaches the blocked section?

A bench is more useful when it is easy to reach from the path. The space around it matters as much as the seat itself.

Public toilet information should include opening hours and access details. A symbol on a map does not tell you whether the door will be open.
